The Combat Pilot has access to the most powerful weapon systems in the game. Even the weaker of the two helicopters, the Loach, is easily capable of wiping out whole squads at once. However, this power can easily be wasted, so the pilot should communicate with the Commander to find out where their fire would be most effective. Since a single well-placed RPG or DShK round can take down any chopper, the helicopter's great advantage is agility. A good pilot remembers that, despite their strength, they are vulnerable, and must always fly fast and stay alert.

Gameplay Details

The Combat Pilot has access to a variety of attack helicopters, depending on their faction. Some helicopters are exclusive, depending on the faction of the pilots.

When using reconnaissance helicopters, such as the OH-6 Cayuse "Loach", the pilot will be responsible for providing recon for the team about enemy positions. Unlike the reconnaissance plane, the reconnaissance helicopter is able to spot enemy squad tunnels, can also defend themselves from enemy fire or act as a gunship, and acts as a replacement for the recon plane when it is shot down. Providing recon is important, as it gives awareness to the team of known enemy locations within the area of the helicopter's observation, especially for the US Commander, and can provide enemy targets for other attack helicopters.

Attack helicopters, such as the AH-1G "Cobra" and the UH-1H "Bushranger", are helicopters purposed to destroying enemy positions on the battlefield. All combat helicopters will have extra pilots or gunners, meaning that there must be effective communication and cooperation between the crew. These helicopters are armed with mini-guns as well as an arsenal of rockets; rockets can annihilate enemy positions within radius of their hits as well destroy an entire flank, while the mini-gun plays the other important part, as it can penetrate buildings and fortifications, as well as suppress and pin down enemies nearby.. When enemy are revealed on the battlefield by reconnaissance, the positions and locations of these enemies will appear on the tactical HUD for the attack helicopters. The main goals of the attack helicopter are destroying enemy tunnels on sight, eliminating enemies within an objective or an advantageous enemy position, and denying the flow of enemy reinforcements. Should the helicopter run low or empty in ammunition, the pilots and gunners should exert their remaining rockets before resupplying at the helipad.
